Dividends are a redistribution of a company’s earnings directly to its shareholders. The most common form of a dividend is a cash dividend. Since the second quarter of 2003, Syntel has paid a $0.06 per share quarterly dividend to shareholders of record. In addition to the regular quarterly dividend, Syntel’s Board of Directors has authorized the payment of special one-time dividends to Syntel shareholders in the amounts of $1.25 per share (August 2003), $1.50 per share (March 2005), $1.25 per share (August 2006), and $0.50 per share (December 2008).
