If you have a deceased spouse who contributed to the Social Security system for the requisite number of quarters, and you are between the ages of 50 and 60 years old and became disabled, according to Social Security’s standards, either prior to or within 7 years of your spouse’s death, you may apply for Social Security disability benefits upon your deceased spouse’s Social Security account.
