For the most part, the two versions look identical. However, version 4.1.1 is written on an entirely different platform than version 3.8, which means that it can be launched from the web as opposed to installing software and database drivers on your machine. (Version 4.1.1 does require Java Web Start 1.4.2 to be installed, but this is free software and may already be installed on most machines as part of the standard setup.) This means that Coeus 4.1.1 can be used much more easily from any computer, including your home PC or laptop. In addition to this change, version 4.1.1 incorporates a whole list of upgrades, tweaks, and additions which SUNY was one of the first schools to implement.
