CSV stands for “Comma-Separated Values” and is a non-proprietary method of representing tabular (spreadsheet) data that can be read and exported by a wide range of applications (wikipedia entry here). ReCal requires CSV files because doing so maximizes compatibility across software applications and operating systems.
