What are cruise lines doing to keep people safe?

The pirate attacks have been confined to a relatively small area off of the coast of Africa near Somalia. Although cruise ships operate all over the world and do itineraries to many countries, it is very rare that a cruise ship is near the areas where the pirates have been operating. Therefore, for most cruises there is no need for cruise lines to even be concerned about pirates. I have done about 20 cruises all total and usually 2 or 3 a year, and usually at least one of which is in the Caribbean. There is absolutely no concern about pirates anywhere in the Caribbean, the Bahamas, South America or the West coast US cruises that go down to Mexico. I have done all of those itineraries in the past couple years and also cruised in Europe twice with no worries about pirates. I have a cruise booked right now for the Mediterranean and that cruise is also not near where the pirates are operating. So if you want to cruise to the Caribbean do it and you’ll be perfectly safe.
