What are core, managerial and leadership skills for FSA?
In addition to unit-specific functions, skills and knowledge–the FSA Skills Catalog depicts a model for three sets of basic skills. Core skills are those every FSA employee should possess and are necessary to conduct daily FSA activities. Managers need an additional skill set focused on employee development, team leadership and operational goals. This set of managerial skills is also necessary for team leaders and project managers, who may not directly supervise employees but who need some of these skills to manage operations. Leadership skills are required for those who are in leadership positions or roles, but this model describes a set of behaviors and characteristics that may be exhibited by anyone in the organization. The circular graphic provides an illustration of the various skill sets. The business unit under discussion will be highlighted in the graphic.
