Cookies not only help sites to identify repeat visitors, but they also allow them to offer you a customised experience when you return to a particular site, for example remembering your personal preferences. A tracking cookie is a cookie that is shared among two or more websites for the purpose of tracking your surfing. For example if you follow a sales lead from one website to make a purchase on another website, a tracking cookie can allow the retailer to work out how many users followed a particular ad to come to their website.
