What are considered the best companion dogs?
Any dog can be your best friend, however if you’d like to research each breed you can go to dogbreedinfo.com Labradors, Golden Retrievers, and Australian Shepherds are the ones that I’ve found are very affectionate and just live for human companionship I currently own a German Shepherd Dog and 2 Australian Shepherds. My GSD tends to be more independent and likes to wander and do her own thing but she’s still very affectionate and still wants to come and cuddle with me sometimes (not the greatest thing in the world when a 50 pound and growing dog decides to get on your lap but I find it cute that she wants to). My Aussies are playful and like to romp and run around but they constantly come and “check in” with me and a lot of the time are just content to lay by me or try to please me. My last dog was a Golden Retriever and she was always goofy and very puppy like and playful even when she got older, loved attention and my companionship. Labs are considered great companion dogs. My ex boyfriend has a chocolate lab named Molly and she does whatever he tells her to do and is always by his side. My current boyfriend just got me a black lab/pit mix and I love her so much. She’s a bit afraid of me because we just got her yesterday, but she loves my boyfriend. Maybe because he is the one that picked her up. From what I know about labs, they’ll go swimming, camping, hiking, etc. with you and if anyone tries to attack you they’ll protect you. However, if you prefer smaller dogs I would go with a Maltese. I had a Maltese named Sadie for 8 years and she was the best dog ever. She always stuck by my side and would lick the tears off my face whenever I cried. She was never violent, and she always tried to protect me from harmful situations (she would bark thinking she was a big dog). Sadie was a very loyal dog, I was devastated when she passed away.
