We are not convinced that the Job Families and roles adequately match the reality of jobs within BT: • We have major concerns about the mapping process. Many roles have a huge range of current grades and salaries suggesting that there may be a mix of different job sizes mapped to a single role. • In some areas, we are concerned that there are not enough job sizes in the new structure. We believe this has resulted in jobs of different sizes being mapped into a single role. • There are too many roles at over 300. Different pay rates are associated with each could mean introducing artificial rigidity and inflexibility. People on a higher pay range will be unwilling to move to different roles with a lower range even if this would help their longer term career development. People also change jobs all the time within BT – if that means endless changes of role the structure will simply collapse. What outstanding issues remain to be resolved? The critical issues that still need to be resolved
