What are Computer ID Thresholds for?

0

We have found that changing certain pieces of hardware on certain machines will cause the COMPNO_BIOS algorithm to change slightly. You can implement a threshold that compensates for the BIOS algorithm’s occasional change due to small hardware differences such as adding memory or hard drives. An automatic threshold of 100 is implemented in PLUS Version 4.1 as well as a user-defined threshold in the new DLL/LIB function pp_copycheckth() and ActiveX property CPTolerance. If you are unable to upgrade to a different algorithm, we recommend using at least 255 for the threshold. Note these threshold values are far too high for Enhanced Computer ID Algorithms. If you are upgrading from the Legacy Computer ID Algorithms, please review additional information regarding Enhanced Computer ID Algorithms to learn more about the “system of voting” and affiliated “thresholds” associated with this new algorithm.
