What are common dietary sources of DHA and ARA?
Common dietary sources of DHA and ARA include eggs, meat, and fish, primarily oily fish like salmon, tuna, and sardines for DHA. Since these types of protein foods are typically not introduced until at least 8 to 12 months of age or later, it makes sense to provide these important nutrients with DHA and ARA supplemented infant formula. Infants can make some DHA and ARA from ingredients in other infant formulas, but experts differ as to whether all babies can make enough. Of course, check with your baby’s doctor to see which foods are appropriate for your child.
