What are Code Enforcement and Code Compliance?
Code enforcement is when city Inspectors or Field Representatives inform a citizen of a city code violation. Code Compliance is when the citizen fixes/repairs or in some other way takes care of the violation. • May I put a fence in my front yard? The short answer is no. Glendale has not allowed fences to be built in the front setback area since the 1920’s. • Does my front yard have to have grass? Your front yard does not have to have grass. It can have any number of types of vegetation. For more information on what is and is not allowed in the front setback area please call Neighborhood Services or refer to the city codes. • Who is responsible for parkway maintenance? The property owner is responsible for maintaining the parkway. This includes watering, planting and trimming/cutting of vegetative growth. • My neighbors’ tree is growing over my property line. What can I do? If your neighbors’ tree is growing over your property line, you do have rights regarding the trimming of the tree
