What Are Coagulants and Flocculants?
Coagulants: Polymers used to bring together suspended solids less than 0.1 milli-microns in size. These products can be positively charged (cationic), and carry varying molecular weights. Some examples of coagulants are inorganic salts or polymeric polymers such as polyamines, DADMAC, ACH or PAC. Flocculants: Polymers used to bring together suspended solids greater than 0.1 milli-microns that are comprised of repeating molecular units. These products can be manipulated by varying the molecular weight chains or by changing the charge density on the molecular units.
