What are Citrus Juicers?
To completely understand what differentiates a citrus juicer from a regular juicer, wheatgrass juicer or blender an explanation is appropriate. Citrus juicers are identifiable by a ribbed dome shaped reamer where a half fruit is placed for juicing. Wheatgrass or vegetable/fruit juicers have no reamer. They have cutting, shredding or slicing blades to macerate the food item to release the juice. The reamer of a citrus juicer forces the juice from the fruit with pressure; hence the term citrus press. Blenders merely pulverize everything placed in them rather than extracting juice from pulp. All citrus presses and juicers have a reamer whether they are electric or manually powered. KitchenAid Citrus Juicers are not an independent machine but rather a juicer formed when a citrus juicer attachment is added to a KitchenAid Food Processer.
