What are chat channels?
Chat channels are like chat rooms that everyone on your server can access. Unlike /shout and /ooc, which can be read only by people in the same zone with you, chat channels can be read by everyone on the server, if they choose. (Some channels require a password, but you can think of the password as being just part of the channel name, since you need to know the name to be able to join it, too.) Chat channels are typically text based forums where conservation occurs in near real time. This is unlike a bulletin board system or newsgroup where users post their message or response and may have to wait considerable time for other users to post their replies. Chat channels may be listed on an IRC system there are several major IRC networks such as Undernet or instead through a private web based interface much like the text based forums discussed above.
