What are characteristics of an Essential Elements, Schools-to-Watch school?
• Developmental Responsiveness –is our program conducive to supporting the various needs of young adolescents? • Academic Excellence – do we provide a meaningful and coherent academic program that is challenging, rigorous, differentiated, and student centered? • Social Equity – do ALL students have opportunities to be successful and engaged in a meaningful academic and social middle school program? • Structural Organization — are there systems and resources in place to support the needs of our students and the school community, as well as, enhance the effectiveness of the school? This analysis is not about the designation of becoming a STW – this is about studying a research-based rubric and ensuring that we are doing what is considered best practice for our students. We will be measuring where we are relative to the middle school standards. From there, we will analyze and assess our middle school.
