What are Challenge Questions?
• Challenge Questions are used to verify your identity during the login process. During enrollment, you will select three questions to which you can indicate specific answers. You will be prompted to answer one of these questions during your first login, after you complete the enrollment process. You will also be asked one of these questions in the event that you are logging in from an unregistered computer.
Challenge questions are questions that you select and provide answers to that only you know. These are simple questions such as “From the list provided, what is your favorite flavor of ice cream?” You then select a flavor from the list of possible answers located in a dropdown box. The questions and answers you select are stored and serve as an additional layer of security to verify your identity.
Challenge questions help prevent unauthorized access to your Online Banking information. Even if your User Name and Password are compromised, your challenge questions and corresponding answers are only known by you and Bank of the West. If you sign in from a computer that we don’t recognize, we’ll ask one of your challenge questions to verify your identity before allowing online access.
