What are certificates of origin and does the Chamber issue them?

Few Chamber members are aware of what this service entails, but yes we do certify certificates of origin (COO). Any company that exports goods to another country should be interested in COOs. It is a document certifying the country of origin of the merchandise required by certain foreign countries for tariff purposes. Whether you will require a COO depends on a variety of factors: 1) destination of the goods being shipped; 2) what the goods are; and 3) if it is requested by the bank or financial institution involved in the export sale. It is the responsibility of the exporter to determine if a COO is required and to produce the document. The Chamber can provide exporters with a blank template if required. If you require a COO and are a Chamber member, you are entitled to a 40% discount on the cost of this service, which can be acquired at the Chamber office at 656 Windmill Rd., Burnside.
