What are CEO Bragging Rights?
Bragging Rights are provable facts, good enough to brag about. They are usually overlooked until a good measurement program is installed. One client, with a systems staff of over 3000, was recently considering “Outseasing” a central table maintenance function. When I measured it I found the team had achieved a productivity delivery rate five times (5X) better than associated teams and a quality rate ten times (10X) better than the proposed overseas agent. Their story had become a “CEO Bragging Right” that was totally overlooked until we applied measurements. Ten minutes into a half-hour review with the CIO, he stopped the meeting. “Would you like additional resources?” He asked. Considering all of the cutting and downsizing that had been going on, the manager and director were stunned. It was a contingency they had never imagined.
