What are causes of white or gray hair?
Hair, like the skin, owes its colour to melanin, the pigment that is formed in special cells. This mainly depends on hereditary charterstics and can also be influenced by racial factor. Gray hair is mixture of coloured hair and naturally coloured hair. When the pigment cells become inactive, the hair turns white. This can happen due to ageing or the reasons like illness, sudden shock or some internal disorder.
