The qualifications for Mayor, Councilmember or Judge are as follows: A candidate for Mayor must be – 1) a resident of the city for 12 months immediately preceding the last day for filing a declaration of candidacy for office; and 2) a qualified elector within the city. A candidate for Councilmember must be – 1) a resident of the city for 12 months immediately preceding the last day for filing a declaration of candidacy for office; 2) a qualified elector and, 3) a resident of the ward which he/she represents for at least 30 days immediately preceding the last day for filing a declaration of candidacy for the office.
