What Are CAD Files?
House designs are usually created on computers by using CAD (Computer Aided Design) software. The most common type of CAD files are the DXF files. A DXF file is a CAD file that is sometimes needed, and can be opened by, various brands of CAD software. However, the DXF file format is an internationally recognized standard, that can be opened using various CAD software brands that run under other operating systems as well, such as MS Windows. The DXF files downloadable for our designs give you all the features you would get from the blueprints for the same eco-house, and still have all the important details you need to build an eco-home. There are also software utilities available that let you convert a CAD file from one format to another. If you need a different file format we can sometimes provide other file formats. You would want to consider this if you are planning on making substantial changes to your home plans and a professional in your area is available to make the changes. Not all of our home designers offer this option, so check to make sure it is available. A CAD Set includes a copyright release allowing you to make changes and legally make copies of this copyrighted home plan. It does not, however, give you the license to build more than one home from the plan without a Multi-Use Construction License. These are files generated by computer aided design software. These files can be used directly with rapid prototyping machines to produce the product with or without manipulation to conform to your specifications. What are rapid prototype machines? These are machines that rapidly produce samples models or finished products created with a computer aided design software. There are many examples of what cad files are on the other pages of this site. The lady in the picture below was created with a cad software called “Poser”, while the sign and store front were created with Rhinoceros software, then everything was rendered (made it look presentable) with the rendering software called Flamingo.
