What are Bushmen marriage customs?
It depends on the bushmen, since there are a lot of different groups. Some of them get married really young, from 7 to 14 years for girls and the boys at 14 or so. Most marriages are monogamous, but polygamy is allowed if the man is able to afford it, and it’s encouraged to marry among cousins; this can be pretty complicated since the way families are named and recognized can mean a cousin is counted as a sibling. Marriages are typically arranged, to benefit the community as much as the individuals.
