What are border terriers like?
If you’re in the U.S. finding a good quality (or any BT) border terrier will be harder than finding the other breeds you mentioned (unless you are lucky and have a breeder nearby or a reputable one that you have found). BTs are highly intelligent dogs. They need firm (but kind) guidance and an outlet for their energy levels. They are highly prey driven. Excellent dogs if you are into true terriers.
Some Border Terriers are brilliant family dogs. Some Border Terriers are horrible snappy little devils. If you are looking for Cheap rather than well bred, that is what you are likely to end up with any breed. Reputable breeders do sell at reasonable prices – they breed & rear healthy pups from carefully chosen parents who have been screened for all the hereditary diseases before being bred, register with the Kennel Club, offer 6 weeks free insurance and a lifetime backup of help & information whenever you need it. “Cheap” means you get a pup which may or may not be purebred, will have been reared on the cheap, may not have been socialised properly &, once you’ve paid your money, that’s the end the breeder’s responsibility. http://www.midland-border-terrier-club.
