What are blood-forming cells?
Blood-forming cells are one of several types of cells in your body that can grow into other types of cells. Blood-forming cells grow into red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets, all of which are important for your body. Red blood cells carry oxygen to all parts of your body. White blood cells help the body fight infection. Platelets help control bleeding. A healthy body is always making new blood-forming cells. A person cannot survive for long without healthy blood cells.
