What are Blackout Window Blinds?
Blackout blinds are window blinds that have slightly larger slats (think 2 inch or 2 ½ inch) and that have either no holes for the strings (called routeless blinds) or have cloth tapes that go over the holes to reduce the amount of light that’s let in through those holes. Blackout blinds operate like regular window blinds, except they block out more light when closed. Blackout blinds are ideal for bedrooms, game rooms, family rooms, and any room where you may want to be in complete darkness. Blackout Blinds add Privacy To add privacy in addition to light filteirng, many parents choose to install blackout blinds instead of blackout shades. Just like normal blinds, if you want to let light in through your blackout blinds but maintain your privacy, you just need to tilt the slats slightly.
