What are arthurian legends?
Yep, Arthurian legends center around the character of King Arthur – his parents Igraine and Uther Pendragon & his sister Morgaine / Morgana and their son Mordred. But the legends also include stories about the people close to Arthur to like his wife Guinevere and his best friend and Guinevere’s lover Lancelot. Another of his closest friends was Gwaine and there are legends about him as well & also about Lancelot’s son Galahad who eventually found the Holy Grail. Then there’s the legend of Tristan and Isolde – Tristan was one of Arthur’s knights – his father Mark, King of Cornwall married an Irish princess called Isolde but she fell in love with his son Tristan and they ran away together. There were also the characters of Avalon like Merlin, Nimue and Vivianne. So Arthur is the central figure in the legends but the legends themselves encompass a wide range of characters based on sixth century myths.
