AlphaGalileo’s mission is to assist the world’s media by providing European research news in science and technology, medicine, the arts, humanities and social sciences, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The service operates as a single shop window for the press offices of European research bodies. AlphaGalileo’s objectives are to enhance media coverage of European research with these audiences and aims in mind: • young people – to encourage their awareness of exciting and significant research being carried out in Europe; • taxpayers – to help justify the use of funds as effective and beneficial to the people of Europe; • industry – to encourage worldwide recognition of the opportunities and challenges of new technologies developed across Europe; and • public – to assist European citizens in engaging in ethical concerns over research.
