What are allergies?
A. From a Western medical perspective, allergy is an overreaction by the immune system. In NAET, allergies are viewed from a holistic perspective, based on Oriental Medical principles. An allergy is a condition of unusual sensitivity of one person to one or more substances that may be harmless to the majority of individuals. In the allergic person, the allergic substance (known as an allergen), is viewed by the brain as a threat to the body’s well-being. Therefore, for our purposes, an allergy is defined in terms of what a substance does to the energy flow in the body. Allergies are the result of energy imbalances in the body, leading to a diminished state of health in one or more organ systems. When contact is made with an allergen, it causes blockages in the energy pathways called meridians. Thought about in another way, it disrupts the normal flow of energy through the body’s electrical circuits. This energy blockage causes interference in communication between the brain and body vi
Very helpful and important discussion here I think. What do you think about some good and working allergy treatment drugs, for example? Which do you recommend to try and which do you think are the most working ones? I would appreciate any input here, thanks!
A1. Allergies are diseases of the immune system that cause an overreaction to substances called “allergens.” Allergies are grouped by the kind of trigger, time of year or where symptoms appear on the body: indoor and outdoor allergies (also called “hay fever,” “seasonal,” “perennial” or “nasal” allergies), food and drug allergies, latex allergies, insect allergies, skin allergies and eye allergies. People who have allergies can live healthy and active lives.
An allergy is the result of a persons overactive immune system reacting to usually harmless things. The substances that cause allergic reactions are known as allergens. Your body thinks the allergen is an invader and makes antibodies to attack it. People who have allergies have an antibody called Immunoglobulin E, or IgE. When allergens first contact the body of a person with allergies, allergen-specific IgE antibodies are produced. Each type of IgE has specific “radar” for one type of allergen only. Thats why some people are allergic to cats only (they have only the IgE antibodies specific to cat) and others seem to be allergic to everything. When a person with allergies comes in contact with an allergen, his or her body will show symptoms of an allergic reaction such as swelling of tissues, sneezing, wheezing, coughing, a runny nose, itchy eyes, and other reactions. A person with antibodies to a specific allergen is commonly referred to as being allergic to that allergen.
