What are all the different types of doctor specialists?
Chiropractors and optometrists are not medical specialties. They do not go to medical school. They go to specialized programs that only teach their specific thing. In the US, medical doctors are MDs or DOs. They are both 4 year medical school programs. After medical schools, they become doctors but must do a residency to become licensed and to specialize. Its at that time they choose to do a residency in say Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine.
