The only argument that holds any weight is “it is against my beliefs,” which one really cannot argue with. If one truly believes in discrimination and bigotry, that is their right. One would hope that they are not sharing such hatreds with impressionable children. For some of the other “arguments,” some of which have been around since the 1960s or so: “If we give rights for LGBT people to marry, then people will want to marry their sister or three people or their dog.” Sorry, wrong. No one is asking for the ability to marry relatives, or multiple people, and animals cannot enter into legal contracts such as marriage. People ARE asking for the right to marry one unrelated person, of age, of their choosing – just like what happens with straight couples every day. This is also called the “slippery slope” argument – mainly because it doesn’t have a leg to stand on
