What are all of the competitions offered by ASTA?
ASTA has four competitions tied with the national conference: The National Orchestra Festival is offered every year and features middle school and high school age children from school or community groups competing in three divisions: middle school orchestra, high school strings orchestra and high school full orchestra. Groups can also attend the National Orchestra Festival to receive comments or ratings without competing. The National High School Honors Orchestra is offered on the even numbered years. Talented individual musicians from all across the nation apply for a position in this orchestra. The National High School Honors Orchestra will be part of the 2008 conference. The Alternative Styles Awards is a chance to award strings students of non-classical styles. The winners of these awards are chosen prior to conference, but play a winner’s concert and receive their award at conference. These awards are on the odd numbered years. The Biennial National Solo Competition allows individ
