What are agricultural chemicals and industrial chemicals?
The difference between agricultural and industrial chemicals is primarily one of a regulatory definition. Agricultural chemicals are, essentially, those chemicals produced primarily for use in agriculture. Often as pesticides but they have a multitude of uses. In the USA, the efficacy and quality of these chemicals are somewhat regulated by the various state departments of Agriculture. Industrial chemicals are those used primarily in industries other than agriculture and are regulated by state agencies other than the state department of agriculture. This difference was made at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries are are with us today.
