What are ADLs and IADLs ?
ADL’s refer to Activities of Daily Living. Which are basic but important general tasks required for day to day living, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, mobility and help in the bathroom. Most seniors in assisted living homes require help with one or two ADL’s. At The Lake Shore, we provide assistance with all of these tasks. IADL’s are Instrumental Activities of Daily Living. These consist of activities that are less basic than ADLs. IADLs are activities that need to be done but on a less time sensitive schedule. For example, IADLs include paying bills, cleaning, laundry and meal preparation. At The Lake Shore, these things are taken care of for you! With planned meals and a laundry service, there’s very little to worry about in the way of IADLs!
