What are Academic Internships and Power Lunches?
Through Manpower Academic Internships, students gain real world experience by working at businesses, schools, nonprofit organizations and professional associations around San Diego County. Internships take place for 8-10 hours per week, for at least one semester during the junior year. Every student is matched with a mentor or mentors. Students contribute to the company or organization by working on both small and large projects. These opportunities allow students to relate their internship work with their teaching team projects. Participating employers have included Qualcomm Inc., SPAWARS, Joan Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, Oliver McMillan, Carrier Johnson, NTD Stichler, Fox 6 News, San Diego Repertory Theatre, VA Medical Center, Scripps Mercy Hospital, San Diego Humane Society, I-Safe America, The Jenna Druck Foundation, La Jolla Spa M.D. and UCSD School of International Relations and Pacific Studies.
