What are a Earthquakes effects on the enviroment?
Earthquakes usually mean deformation of the land. This could be uplift (from compression of rock), shear (from sideways motion of rock), or depression (extension of rock). The major effects are on rivers and road or track systems. They can also cause rock or mud slide in hilly or mountainous areas. Under water in oceans or seas they can cause slumping of oozes and rock and and cause tsunamis. In lakes they can disturb sediment and cause hydrogen sulphide to escape killing people and animals in the local area.
