A four wheel drive vehicle is a vehicle which has all its four wheels powered by the engine. These vehicles are designed in such a manner that all the four wheels receive torque from the engine at the same time. This proves to be of huge advantage as it facilitates better control of vehicle over different types of surfaces. Initially such cars were only used for off-terrain experience.
