What are 3D glasses?
The thin cardboard with red and blue lenses known as 3D glasses have graced the faces of millions through the years. But how do they work? How are they used? How are 3D technology advancing? These questions will be answered in the following articles. The centers of our two eyes are spaced a few inches apart. Because of this each eye has a slightly different view of the world. The brain interprets the two different images it receives from each eye by correlating or “overlaying” them into one view, which contributes to our ability to see in three dimensions. Specially produced films, TV shows and video games, aided by 3D glasses, take advantage of this difference in perspective between our two eyes by making sure that each eye sees something different on the screen. This “tricks” the brain into correlating two different images into one, creating a three-dimensional image that is nothing but an illusion. In short, the thin, basic lenses of 3D glasses, used together, fool the human mind. M
