What arctic animals are affected by climate change?
Many animals are affected by climate change. But currently, there has been a slight relapse but it still has an affect and is hurting some populations. Because of warmer weather some southern birds are moving north because of better food sources (a new niche, really) Polar Bears, Seals, all arctic animals are affected by any sort of climate change.
polar bears have already drowned becaues they cant find ice whales are already having trouble finding enough plankton because the warmer oceans reduce upwelling and plankton blooms, while CO2 can acidify the ocean and dissolve the plankton elks, moose and lots of polar animals will lose their permafrost habitat and many arctic birds are already doing so and moving farther north and South in the southern hemisphere
Surface animals such as Polar bears and foxes are finding it more difficult to find land and game in the summers “Which unlike Normal Bears is their lean time where they live off their fat from the previous winter” Whales, Dolphins, Narwhal’s, and seal members of the Artic are now growing in abundance from plankton plumes and increased open seaways. Unlike the CO2 PH crowd increase in CO2 is causing the plant based plankton to grow in abundance. One has to understand most of the plankton in the oceans have Calcium Carbonate Shells, CaCO3. A drop in the PH just allows for greater adsorption of CO2 into the oceans allowing plankton to make use of it not the other way around. www.carbondioxidereaserch.
