What aperture and shutter speed settings should I be using?
This would be easier to answer IF we knew what medium format camera you have. It would also be helpful to know exactly how you’ve been calculating exposure when using ISO 400 film. ISO 3200 is 3 stops faster than ISO 400. I doubt that using the “Sunny 16 Rule” is possible since few medium format cameras have a 1/4000 sec. shutter speed. If your camera’s maximum shutter speed is 1/500 sec. then you’ll need a Neutral Density (ND) filter that will reduce exposure by 3 stops. An ND8 filter will do that. You can then use f16 and a shutter speed of 1/500 sec. with your 3200 speed film on a sunny day. Of course, if you have a lens that stops down to f45 you won’t need the ND filter since f45 is 3 stops slower than f16. As far as night photography is concerned I use and recommend this site: http://www.calculator.org/exposure.aspx Choose a Scene from those listed and then ISO 3200 and when you click on Calculate it will give y
