What animal rights organizations exist, other than PETA?
Aside from PETA, many animal right organizations exist. Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) works very hard at protecting animals. Also, Last Chance for Animals (LCA), Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) exist as well known organizations working towards the betterment of animals. While they all broadly focus on animals in general, other groups focus on more specific areas needing help in the animal kingdom. Puppy mill Awareness Day focuses on dogs raised in a puppy mill environment. Farm USA promotes vegan living to protect farm animals. Additionally, Dogs Deserve Better has risen to nationally-known status, dedicating themselves to defending the rights of chained dogs. Thousands of animal rights groups exist but only a handful of them get national recognition.

I believe very strongly in the rights of animals and in vegetarian/vegan diets, but I have a lot of problems with PETA’s tactics and with the hypocrisy within the organization. What are some other animal rights groups that don’t promote protesting animal shelters, don’t degrade women or use racist messages in their advertising, and offer resources for people who are interested in getting involved with animal rights?
