What and who do Labour represent in the political spectrum?

Labour are now appealing to the centre-right voter, just the same as the Tories and the Lib Dems. They don’t represent ordinary people any more. We do not have a mass party to represent the interests of the working class any longer. I don’t agree that Old Labour socialism was “anti-success” – it stood for the welfare state, which was supposed to provide a safety-net for everybody and for a universal health system, the NHS. What is wrong with that? I would tax people heavily who have a lot of wealth and redistribute this to the poor in society, but the rich do not need their money, while many people are still living in abject poverty, with no hope of being able to succeed. Labour have actually entrenched the have / have-not divide, with this greater than it ever was under the Tories. There is less chance of a working class child moving up the social ladder now than at any time since the 1950s. We are going backwards with respect to job security, our NHS, our public services and the welf

They did support the working class up until 1997 and were on the centre left (socialist side) of the spectrum. They have betrayed that now and it was all for the sake of a few years in power. People have voted until recently because of this. They did stand for social democracy and from the 1940’s to the 1970’s when their most successful leaders Harold Wilson, and Clement Atlee were Prime ministers using socialist values to make the country better. They established the NHS in 1948 and helped the dissolving of the Empire. Now they stand for Big business on the political and economic right. They have become infiltrated by Kinnock, Blair Brown and Mandelson. Also after the nightmare of the 1980’s and Margaret Thatcher people have voted Labour either because they are strong supporters or because they do not want the conservatives back in power. This lot would leave Wilson, Atlee, and Callaghan turning in their graves.
