What and who are Research Stakeholders?
In addition to scientific experts, the Society’s national peer review committees also include volunteer research “stakeholders.” These lay persons are often cancer survivors or caregivers who champion the patient’s perspective to be reflected in the grant selection process. The newest Ohio stakeholders are Benjamin F. Floyd, PhD, of Cincinnati and Bonnie McFarland, RN, BSN, of Gallipolis. Roy Smith of Concord Township will finish his two-year term in 2010. Barbara Kubiak of Warren, a former stakeholder, serves on the Extramural Council, which determines funding levels for Extramural grants.
