The world record is a 24-hour period from April 14th to 15th, 1921 at Silver Lake, Colorado, USA. They received 170 cm (1.70 m) of snow. Montague, New York, USA, located just east of Lake Ontario, reported 196 cm in 24 hours on January 11-12, 1997. The measurement was disallowed, however, after the National Climate Extremes Committee determined that the total of 196 cm was achieved by adding six measurements together, two more than the maximum allowed during any 24-hour period. Out of interest sake, last winter in early February, 2007, Redfield, NY received 3.58 metres of snow in just 9 days. The Canadian record for a 24-hour snowfall is 145 cm at Tahtsa Lake, BC on February 11, 1999.
