A. The Kitikmeot Region (Central Arctic) is one of three regions in Nunavut, Canadas newest territory. It includes the southern and eastern parts of Victoria Island and the adjacent part of the mainland as far as the Boothia peninsula, together with King William Island and the southern portion of Prince of Wales Island. About 4,800 people live in the Kitikmeot region in seven hamlets; Bathurst Inlet, Cambridge Bay, Gjoa Haven, Kugaaruk, Kugluktuk, Taloyoak and Omingmaktok.
