What and where is the “Blue Lagoon”?
Many people ask about the reference to Blue Lagoon. The company, Blue Lagoon Cruises was named after the original Hollywood movie of the same name starring Jean Simonds and Lloyd Bridges. In addition, Blue Lagoon Cruises had a critical role in the remake of the movie starring Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins. We literally transported and accommodated the production company often assisting in the choice of locations using our vast, collective experience. The areas depicted in both movies are also broadly the areas where Blue Lagoon Cruises concentrates its cruises today! We believe that one of the best examples of a “Blue Lagoon” is in fact the island owned and protected by Blue Lagoon Cruises called, Nanuya Lai Lai. Many of our passengers refer to Nanuya Lai Lai as the “Blue Lagoon”.
