What and when are the activities for Police Week?
National Police Week is always the calendar week in which May 15th, National Peace Officers Memorial Day, falls. The Annual Candlelight Vigil is held on May 13th each year. Sponsored by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF), the Vigil begins at 8:00 p.m. at the Memorial grounds, located at Judiciary Square, on the 400 block of E Street, NW, Washington, DC. A reading of the names newly engraved on the Memorial immediately follows the ceremony. Everyone is welcome to attend; no tickets are required. The National Peace Officers Memorial Day Service, sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police and the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary, is held on May 15th.
