What all do I need to accomplish to become a truck driver???
I have been a truck driving instructor, off and on, since 1980. There are a number of ways to start…. You can look at companies first, but they are going to be talking about things you probably won’t understand right off the bat. My suggestion is to search out some truck driving schools in your area and see what they have to say. Do not sign up for any one school until you have talked to all of them and get a basic understanding about trucking and the lifestyle of it. You need to decide whether you want to run “over the road”, “regional”, “local” or what you want to do. You will probably have to start out doing OTR (over the road) for at least two years. Everyone has to pay their dues before getting a local job where you are home every night, but not always…. Like someone said above, talk to the companies next. Some of the larger companies have their own schools and training programs in house. Like it was stated above, you will have to sign a year’s contract to offset the tuition,
