What ages are required to have a work permit?
Any student under the age of 18 must have a work permit on file. Can I get a work permit at my high school? You may pick up a Request for a Work Permit at your high school (if available), but you must return it to our office so that we may issue the work permit. We issue all permits for all students during the summer. During the school year, work permits are issued at all high schools. HOURS OF WORK The following restrictions and spread of hours are for vacation permits only. Any work permits issued for summer employment are considered vacation permits. 16 and 17 year olds: 8 hours per day with a maximum of 48 hours per week. Spread of hours – 5:00 a.m. – 12:30 a.m. 14 and 15 year olds: 8 hours per day with a maximum of 40 hours per week.
