What agencies are involved in an AMBER Alert?
The National Weather Service, the Tennessee Department Transportation, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Tennessee Emergency Management Association and the Tennessee Lottery Corporation are all active partners in the AMBER Alert program. Immediately after an AMBER Alert is issued, the National Weather Service will activate the Emergency Alert System statewide, meaning every radio and television station in Tennessee will receive a bulletin similar to those issued during severe weather. A LOCATER Poster will be e-mailed from the TBI to every media outlet in the state, and a copy of that poster will be placed on the TBI homepage at www.tbi.state.tn.us. The LOCATER poster system was developed by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to allow law enforcement agencies to quickly disseminate information on missing and abducted children. The Department of Transportation activates The Intelligent Traffic Signs, showing that there is a Statewide or Regional AMBER Alert. Motorist
